Frottage: The Nymph Echo

The Nymph Echo by Max Ernst is an example of frottage because the paitning appears to have texture to it, giving it an almost three dimensional feel. The hand reaching out toward the bottom of the painting appears to be reaching out to the viewer, and it appears to be much closer than the flowery images toward the top. The wall in the background also gives the impression that the painting is three dimensional.
